THE TRADITION GOLF CLUB in La Quinta is a private golf club and like most desert courses, The Tradition is fairly young compared to similar clubs of its quality and stature. The CRAB POT RESTAURANT in La Quinta opened recently and is a welcome addition to the restaurants located in Old Town La Quinta.  Home to the famous "Seafest", the Crab Pot is a fun and delicious family-style seafood dining adventure that originated on Seattle's historic waterfront. 

The "Seafest" features a "sea feast" for two or more and is the restaurant's specialty.  It includes a variety of steamed seafood, including crab, shrimp & shellfish paired up with corn on the cob and red potatoes which are poured out onto the butcher paper covered table in front of you.  Dig in, but be prepared to wear a bib, use your wooden mallet to crack open the crab and shrimp, and wipe your chins with the well-placed roll of paper towels that stand ready on the table.

The Crab Pot features indoor dining and patio dining (with summer time misters).  There are wood planked floors, red checkered tablecloths, colorful carved fish, all with a nautical décor, making this a unique and pleasant dining experience in the desert.

All seafood is brought in fresh daily with daily specials such as northwest salmon, Alaskan halibut, Pacific swordfish, Hawaiian ahi, mahi mahi, Baja California sea bass and yellowtail. In addition to seafood are pastas, chicken, ribs, New York steaks and juicy hamburgers.  Their house specialty dessert is "The Famous Strawberry Rhubarb Homestyle Cake In a Pan".  My grandmother used to make this from rhubarb grown in her backyard and it is really a taste treat - be prepared to share because the cake is large enough for everyone to enjoy!  Bring your family and friends and be prepared to have a delicious group dining experience!

DUNA LA QUINTA COUNTRY CLUB is located in and is a member of the private La Quinta Resort and Hotel Dunes Course golf club.  Many of the owners who choose to resell their homes may offer their homes turnkey furnished and homes are decorated by professional decorators.

MIMI'S CAFE, a corporate-owned family restaurant chain, is opening their second Coachella Valley restaurant in La Quinta on August 28^th.   Mimi's is known for its breakfast, lunch and dinner menus with delicious home style meals. Mimi's consistently provides generous portions of their hearty fare from fish and meatloaf to a kid's menu that will delight your children.  Their menu includes Great Appetizers, Small Bites, Homemade Daily Soups, Pasta, Comfort Classics and Seasonal Features. Mimi's began in Anaheim, California in 1978 and now has 134 locations in 22 states. PANERA in La Quinta has become our new favorite breakfast place.  Most people think of Panera as a take out bakery, and it is, but it is also a cozy and cheery café and we like to go there early on Saturday morning to get their fresh and famous "Baked Egg Souffles".  Panera Bread's Baked Egg Souffles are delicious little gourmet Hot Pockets. Encased in buttery crescent dough there are four fillings to choose from - four cheese, turkey sausage & potatoes, spinach & artichoke (my favorite) and spinach and bacon.  These delectable creations sell out quickly and unfortunately, once they are sold out for the day, they do not make any more and are usually sold out before 10 am.  It is amusing, once we get ours, to spend our "savoring time" watching people in line jockeying for position, their mouths watering as they hope that the last favorite souffle isn't taken before they get up to the counter.  They are delicious, but then everything at Panera is. 

We like Panera... and we really enjoy that eating at Panera feels like eating at your favorite Auntie's home who liked to bake.  Panera's self-descriptions says it all, "We are Panera. We are bakers of bread. We are fresh from the oven. We are a symbol of warmth and welcome. We are a simple pleasure, honest and genuine. We are a life story told over dinner. Is Costco gas cheaper?  This morning I went to fill up my gas tank and thought you might find it interesting to actually see the difference in the cost of fuel between Costco and a major gas supplier.  I selected Shell gas to compare, but it could have been any other gas station in La Quinta - some cost more, but I could not find any that charged less for gas than Costco.  The new Costco opened up on Highway 111 and Jefferson this past year and the community is thrilled.  There is always enough parking, even during the season!  Now another reason to visit your local Costco!

THE QUARRY is considered to be the one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the desert and rumored to have 68 billionaires as members. In 1995 The Quarry broke ground in an old sand quarry and Tom Fazio was selected to be the golf course architect.
